Forever Kudra

Miss Kuddie deserves some attention. She has been my devoted companion for eight and a half years. Even if all the other cats in the house ignore me and even if my husband ignores me, Kudra is right there at my feet, just waiting to plop her flabby, loose belly on my lap. Once she gets settled in, she just sits, absolutely content. Her warm nugget head positioned sweetly on her paws, her tail gently swooshing just enough to let me know she's still alive.

Kitty Time

Kudra is named after a female character in Tom Robbins' novel, "Jitterbug Perfume." In the book, Kudra has found a way to achieve immortality. And, I expect the same out of my feline friend.

My husband, however, thinks that Kudra is kind of disgusting, and would probably not want to see her live forever. The reasons are so:

  1. She has an allergy problem so she licks herself a little more than she should
  2. She has an anxiety problem so she cleans herself a little more than she should (this doubles the time that she spends with her legs spread, anus on the couch, tongue in her crotch)
  3. She enjoys drinking out of water glasses (either by sticking her kitty-litter crusted paws in the glass and scooping it out—you can always tell that she has touched the water because it becomes murky, or by dipping her entire head into the glass and sipping with her crotchety tongue—yum!)
  4. She poops and pees in my plants, which is very frustrating for me—all my plants have plastic bags crumpled up and placed on top of the soil
  5. She vomits in areas that aren't easily cleaned: on the only two rugs in the house, on the kitchen table, on my step-son's bed, off of the steps so it splatters at full velocity, etc.
  6. She likes to show off her goods

Cute cat

Of course, I find all of these eccentricities to be quite endearing. She's been my cat for almost nine years; I appreciate all aspects of her cat personality. Regardless of what I tell the other kitties in the house, Kudra is always top on my list.
